Refunds coming for wrongly taxed Austin Energy customers

AUSTIN (KXAN) – If you haven’t checked the line items on your Austin Energy bill, now would be a good time to start.
Following a KXAN investigation, Austin's public power utility announced Sept. 8 it wrongly applied a 1 percent "metro" sales tax to more than 6,000 customers. The utility has started a process of finding and refunding money to impacted ratepayers in a region of southern Williamson County.
