Record breaking heat today ahead of cold front

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Sunshine, a downsloping southwest wind and compressional heating ahead of an approaching cold front could mean the hottest day of 2022 thus far and could be record breaking. Austin may get as hot as 96 degrees Tuesday afternoon. Camp Mabry's current standing record for today is 94 degrees, set in 1936.
