Protesters say controversial Mexican-American textbook is inaccurate, ‘racist’

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The controversial textbook on Mexican-American history will once again take center stage on Tuesday. Mexican American Heritage is on the list of proposed textbooks the Texas State Board of Education is considering to use in the 2017-18 school year.
Some scholars, state lawmakers and activists say the book is filled with inaccurate depictions of Mexican-American history and culture. Tuesday morning they are taking that message to the state board and plan to hold a rally
