Numerous heat records likely in the next week

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The first 12 days of May have been the hottest in Austin record keeping history, with records dating back to 1897. With the hottest mid-May period in our forecast, we do not expect our #1 ranking to change anytime soon.
High pressure remains the dominant factor in our weather pattern allowing for the continuation of the abnormally hot and dry weather across Central Texas. A string of six record-hot days is expected to begin on Saturday and extend through much of next week.T
