New officers join APD force, department still understaffed

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police departments is welcoming a new recruit class to its force on Friday.
The 65 officers are from two separate cadet classes. Their commencement ceremony took place at Austin Life Church in the southwestern part of the city.
The last time the city say a new cadet class join the force was in July. However, even with this latest class, the department is still understaffed. The department needs at least 100 officers, said Austin Police Association Presi
