Memo: Police data shows Sixth Street safety pilot has 'positive effects' so far

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- After a brief period of testing reopening Sixth Street to cars, Austin Police Department Chief Lisa Davis said in a memo to the mayor and city council that preliminary data gathered during the period shows "several positive effects."The city of Austin in mid-January opened Sixth Street up to vehicular traffic as part of a pilot program, which wrapped up over the weekend.
