Man gets 8-year prison sentence in international conspiracy defrauding elderly victims

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A man was sentenced in a federal court in Austin on Thursday for conspiracy to commit money laundering, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The DOJ said court documents showed that Moinuddin Mohammed, 34, "engaged in a conspiracy to launder proceeds of a scheme to defraud elderly victims out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and gold."Mohammed was sentenced to 97 months in prison, or eight years and one month.
