Man escapes Bastrop County Jail, search underway

BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — A manhunt for an escaped inmate is underway in Bastrop County.
The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office says the inmate, a trustee, was doing routine yard work when he walked away from the jail, located at 200 Jackson St. in the town of Bastrop, at around 1:30 p.m. Deputies say the escapee, Matthew Ryan Cagwin, was booked into jail on non-violent charges.
