K2 spike in downtown Austin sends 33 to the hospital

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Travis County EMS declared a mass casualty incident in downtown Austin Thursday as medics worked to treat multiple patients for use of the drug K2.
Medics were called Thursday evening to 500 E. 7th St., the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless (ARCH). Ten of the patients at the ARCH have been taken to multiple Austin hospitals, one with CPR in progress.
Since midnight, ATCEMS says they have responded to 34 K2 incidents, nine of which had multiple patients, an
