Increasing odds of tropical development in the Gulf

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Temperatures will climb late week into the weekend... but as our weather quiets down in the short term, all eyes remain on the Gulf of Mexico.A ridge of high pressure building over the region will put our recent rain chances on hold and bring the heat back into focus. Afternoon highs will warm well into the 90s today as heat index values creep closer to 100°.
