HERO program expands on Central Texas highways Monday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A roadside assistance program that has helped thousands of Texans this year is expanding.
The Texas Department of Transportation “Highway Emergency Response Operator” program, or HERO, will expand to Hays County starting Oct. 1, with further expansions planned before the new year.
The move was approved by the Mobility Authority through an advanced funding agreement with TxDOT on Sept. 28 and will be active until Jan. 31, 2018.
