Gas leak causes evacuations in Downtown Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN)- Austin Fire crews are responding after a construction crew broke a gas line at 9th and San Antonio in Downtown Austin Saturday morning. AFD was called to the scene of the leak around 10:30 a.m. They are waiting on a crew from the Texas Gas Service to shut the line off. AFD says crews evacuated an unknown number of people from the immediate vicinity and additional evacuations may be called for once they determine which direction the gas is heading.
