AUSTIN (KXAN) — Near-record warmth, damaging winds and a widespread overnight freeze -- Mother Nature has plenty to give in the next 48 hours in Central Texas.Austin high temperature Friday afternoon reached 78° -- just one degree shy of the daily record set in 1980. Gusty winds are increasing fire risk. Several grassfires ignited this afternoon in Williamson County.Tonight, a strong, dry cold front blows through bringing very gusty winds and much colder temperatures. Winds will begin
