Fired Central Texas police officer indicted in text case

TEMPLE, Texas (AP) — Prosecutors say a fired Central Texas police officer has been indicted on allegations that he sent a text to tip off someone in a federal case.
Former Temple police Officer Erick French II was arrested Thursday on a charge of making a false statement to federal investigators. French, who’s free on $25,000 bond, faces arraignment Sept. 19 in Austin.
