Code Red: Austin Shelter turning animals away at full capacity

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Due to overcrowding the Austin Animal Center is operating under Code Red.
This means the center can only take in hurt or sick animals because they are at full capacity. Workers say they received a record number of animals in the shelter last month. Even over the past two days, the center has seen more intakes than animals finding a new home.
