Caldwell County deputy in serious condition after shooting

CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot and taken to the hospital Friday morning, where he is in serious condition.
STAR Flight took the deputy to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he is awaiting surgery as of 8:20 a.m.
Deputies responded to a call on Hidden Oak Road in Dale, Texas, around midnight. That’s when someone fired at them. One deputy was shot multiple times. Officials have not yet said why deputies were originally called
