Bad transformers cause south Austin power outage Thursday, Austin Energy says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — More than 3,000 Austin Energy customers were without power Thursday morning, according to the utility's outage map.The outage that spread across south Austin including a portion of Congress Avenue between U.S. Highway 290/Ben White Boulevard and West Stassney Lane, was reported at 3:45 a.m. The utility said a bad transformer bank was the cause of the outage.
