Austin officer suspended for using unauthorized techniques

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police officer Michael Castillo was suspended for three days after he used unauthorized techniques to stop two car chases.
According to a police memo, Castillo used Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) on June 11 and 15 to stop two separate police chases. Castillo admitted to Internal Affairs that using PIT was in violation of police policies, which requires approval by a supervisor. He was suspended from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4.
