Audit: Too many barriers to file complaints against APD officers

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city has unveiled the findings of a new audit looking into the way complaints against city police officers are handled.
According to the report, the probe was requested by Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo. City leaders will get an in-depth breakdown of the audit Wednesday morning.
The study examined 1,200 complaints filed against APD officers between October 2013 and December 2015. About 60 percent of the complaints were made by citizens, the audit discovered.
