After 8th hottest day in Austin history...more heat

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Spotty and slow-moving storms have developed and brought some areas brief relief from the excessive heat. Rain-cooled air coming out from these storms may temporarily drop the temperatures nearby, but still it remains hot.Some of our rain cooled air provided a 10-20 degree temperature drop in a matter of minutes, but we still broke record highs in Austin reaching 109º before temperatures dropped.
