AFD commemorates 15th anniversary of 9/11 with mock stair climb

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Fire Department honored 9/11 victims with a mock stair climb Sunday morning.
At 9:30 a.m. AFD firefighters climbed the Pleasant Valley Drill Tower in full gear with a hose bundle. They climbed almost the same amount of stairs firefighters did in the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attack.
Many locals and family members attended the event and volunteers from a local elementary school handed out water to firefighters who participated.
