3D mammogram insurance coverage up for debate at Capitol

AUSTIN (KXAN) — More than 250,000 women in the United States are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. At the State Capitol, a bill proposes to require insurance companies to cover the cost of 3D mammograms.
Right now, most insurance companies only cover the cost of 2D mammograms. A new bill proposed by Representative Senfronia Thompson, a breast cancer survivor, wants to mandate all insurance to cover it.
