Triple-digit heat, strong storms possible across north Georgia Thursday

North Georgia is under a Next Weather Alert as dangerous heat and the chance for strong afternoon storms create hazardous conditions ahead of the Fourth of July. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s, with heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees, and even higher in parts of northwest Georgia. Isolated storms could bring damaging wind gusts and localized flooding later in the day.
