Wasilla man dies in crash; pickup strikes telephone pole

PALMER, Alaska (AP) – A 42-year-old Wasilla man died when his truck left the roadway and crashed near Palmer.
Alaska State Troopers say James Eldred just before 5 a.m. Thursday was driving north on Stringfield Road.
Troopers say his pickup left the road and struck a telephone pole.
Emergency responders declared him dead at the scene.
Troopers continue to investigate the crash but say Eldred was not using a seat belt.
