Wasilla man dies in crash after pickup strikes telephone pole

PALMER, Alaska — A 42-year-old Wasilla man died when his truck left the roadway and crashed near Palmer.
James Eldred was driving just before 5 a.m. Thursday north on Stringfield Road, Alaska State Troopers said. His pickup left the road and struck a telephone pole.
Emergency responders declared him dead at the scene.
Troopers continue to investigate the crash but say Eldred was not using a seat belt.
