Walker issues disaster declaration for St. Lawrence Island storms

Help is on the way for the residents of Savoonga and Gambell after a series of strong winter storms hit St. Lawrence Island, causing extensive damage between Christmas and New Years Day. Gov. Bill Walker issued a state disaster declaration for the area last week, freeing up state funds for those affected communities.
Savoonga and Gambell are located on St. Lawrence
