UA Regents approve tuition increase, budget request from the state

The University of Alaska (UA) Board of Regents on Thursday passed a tuition increase of 5 percent for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Regents at the meeting in Fairbanks listened as UA President Jim Johnsen outlined a budget scenario for the coming fiscal year that includes asking the Alaska Legislature for $341 million to cover operating expenses and an additional $50 million to cover capital expenses.
