Tree sweater art installation destroyed for second time in one month
A public art exhibit designed to brighten Westchester Lagoon was destroyed almost immediately after it was installed. A group called Anchorage Guerrilla Knitters wrapped 50 handmade sweaters around trees near the lagoon Friday evening. By noon Saturday, they were all gone.
Linda Phillips, one of the people who created the sweaters, said someone appeared to have taken scissors to the sweaters and discarded them in nearby trashcans and a portable toilet.
