Sitka brown bear shot and wounded by homeowner found, euthanized

A brown bear shot and wounded when it chased a Sitka homeowner’s dog Tuesday was located and killed near the residence a day later, the Southeast Alaska town’s latest bear to be killed in similar incidents this summer.
Alaska State Troopers said in a Thursday dispatch that the initial shooting was reported to Sitka police Tuesday on the 2400 block of Sawmill Creek Road, where the homeowner shot the bear twice “chasing a dog through (the homeowner’s) yard just before dark.
