Senate proposes ‘devastating’ $22 million in cuts to UA system in 2018

Tough times are looking even more grim for the University of Alaska as the UA Board of Regents and university president Jim Johnsen begin to plan for the worst.
They had a special meeting Thursday, some joining remotely from Fairbanks, after the Alaska Senate unveiled its budget, which includes slashing the UA operating budget by $22 million in fiscal year 2018.
