Sen. Murkowski grows lettuce in D.C. office
Alaska produce is being made in Washington D.C. thanks to a special growing system.
Senator Lisa Murkowski can eat Alaska lettuce when she’s not at home.
Check out her new “vertical bucket Lettuce grow tower.”
Chena Hot Springs owner Bernie Karl made it for her. Seeds were planted on rock wool, then put into tubes. It has 84 baby lettuce plants on it — enough to feed a family of six.
The tower supplies costs about $220 at Home Depot — not including the lighting.
