Scam alert: Fraud IRS calls on the rise

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) says it’s the number one scam in Alaska right now: scammers claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that threaten to file a lawsuit, and try to collect money. It’s a call that could be costly.
“We had one women who, she got very upset, her husband had recently died and she thought she may have really owed the money,” said Michelle Tabler with the BBB.  “And she did wire the first $1,300.”
