Road ruts and studded tires: Change-over season is here
Anyone who has driven along the Glenn Highway recently has seen, and felt, the deep ruts in the road. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT) says the problem is largely caused by studded tires and it’s an expensive problem to fix.
DOT spokesperson Shannon McCarthy said crews repave the Glenn every seven years, repairing the damage done by the studs.
