Rains a boost to fire crews battling Alaska wildfire

Officials say a substantial rain began falling Friday over a wildfire near Alaska’s largest city, giving firefighters a continued break in the weather as they work to protect threatened homes on either side of the blaze.
The welcome relief follows a light sprinkle that fell Thursday, helping fire crews directly attack the fire on steep and rocky terrain about 10 miles south of Anchorage. The blaze was sparked Saturday near cliffs overlooking the Seward Highway, the only road leading south
