Pedestrian killed on south Anchorage highway access road

ANCHORAGE — A woman walking along an Anchorage highway access road died when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle.
Anchorage television station KTVA reports Tia Smart, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Sgt. Ryan McNamara said Smart was struck just before midnight Tuesday as she walked on Brayton Drive, which runs along the east side of the Seward Highway.
