Nonprofit ending services for disabled in southeast Alaska

JUNEAU — A nonprofit organization that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is pulling the plug on its southeast Alaska operations due to financial troubles.
The Juneau Empire reports that Hope Community Resources’ CEO, Roy Scheller, says the decision was prompted by the state’s current downturn. The Anchorage-based organization is shutting down in Alaska’s southeast region at the end of the month.
