Nominee chosen to lead Human Rights Commission perplexed by questioning from Republicans

A man who Governor Walker appointed to the state’s Human Rights Commission said he is being treated differently than other appointees because of his gender identity.
Drew Phoenix is a transgender man who recently moved from Anchorage to Fairbanks. He’s an ordained Methodist minister and the former executive director of Identity, which advocates for LGBT rights. Phoenix also worked for the American Civil Liberties Union in Alaska.
