New volcano monitoring bill aims to keep communities safe

There are nearly 170 active volcanoes in the United States, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, and 52 of those are in Alaska. That’s one reason Sen. Lisa Murkowski is among the sponsors of a bill that would allow scientists to keep a closer eye on them.
