Municipality proposes phone bill hike to pay for 911 system
The Municipality of Anchorage is having trouble paying for 911 operators and equipment, and is hoping to raise phone bill fees to help. Currently, each landline and cell phone is charged $1.50 each month to help pay for the city’s 911 service. There is now a proposal to raise that to $2, the maximum allowed by the state.
