McConnell to head Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office

A former planner with the municipality of Anchorage will be the new director of the state Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office.
Erika McConnell will join the state office March 20 after 14 years with the municipality, where she oversaw special land use permits for alcohol and wrote Anchorage’s marijuana land use regulations.
She replaces acting director Sara Chambers.
Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development Commissioner Chris Hladick announced the appointment Tuesday.
