Katmai bans tripods for bear viewers

If you’re headed to Brooks Falls for bear viewing this summer, check to see if you can use a tripod.
Katmai National Park announced it’s banning the use of all tripods and “rail-mounted” fixtures from June 15 to August 15.
Park staff say the demand for viewing space led to the decision.
During the peak of the salmon run, dozens of bears can be seen from the platform, and park staff says they made the decision because of the increased number of visitors and demand for view
