JBER display confronts sexual assault in the military
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) group is using a powerful image to highlight the scope of the problem.
The group set up 3,828 teal flags. Each one represents a reported sexual assault in the Army and the Air Force during fiscal year 2015.
Volunteer victim advocate SSgt Nicole Sierra said while the flag display is upsetting, it also helps people understand the scope of the problem.
