Gov. Walker announces cancer diagnosis

Alaska Gov. Bill Walker has prostate cancer and will have surgery next month, according to a release from his administration.
A treatable form of cancer, he’s not expected to need treatment post-surgery, the release says.
“This diagnosis has not and will not impair my ability to perform my duties as governor,” Walker said in a statement. “I want to emphasize that I had no symptoms, and it was only through a regular checkup that this diagnosis was made. I urge all Alaskans
