Executive order could impact Alaska refugee community

An executive order President Donald Trump is expected to sign could impact Alaska’s refugee community. The order would temporarily ban refugees from coming to our country for four months, with special focus on people coming from predominantly Muslim countries like Iraq, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.
Catholic Social Services is the only resettlement program in Alaska, helping around 130 refugees each year. Some come from African countries, including Sudan and Somalia. Others come from parts of E
