Committee compromise caps PFD, funds schools
The conference committee reached a tentative compromise Thursday that could help the state avoid a government shutdown, and the Senate passed the budget bill.
Sen. Shelley Hughes (R-Palmer) is the only one who voted against it. Shortly after, Hughes announced she is leaving the majority caucus.
Among the agreements are fully funding education, limiting the PFD to $1100 this year, $57 million in tax credit reimbursements to the oil industry and paying for the operating budget
