Bear chasing dog shot, killed by homeowner

A brown bear shooting death in Sitka has been ruled as “justified defense of life and property,” according to Fish and Game.
A man, who is also an Alaska State Trooper, heard his dog yipping after he let it out early Wednesday morning. That is when he saw an adult male brown bear chasing his dog.
The man shot the bear four times and it died in a deep ravine about 100 yards away.
