Assembly votes to put a hold on license for Anchorage’s first marijuana shop

It could be a big holdup for what many thought would be the first retail marijuana store to open in Anchorage.  Now its owner, Bryant Thorp, is wondering if he will be allowed to open at all.
Thorp owns Arctic Herbery, a nondescript gray building that looks like a remodeled home on Arctic Boulevard near West 72nd Avenue. Thorp was the first person to get a retail license to sell marijuana in Anchorage, but he was also the first person to get a marijuana violation from the state.
