APD: iPhone prank tying up 911 operators

A prank circulating social media is encouraging iPhone users to “call 108” using Siri, according to the Anchorage Police Department, which is now asking the public to stop trying it.
“108 appears to be an emergency number for people in India, but in the United States smartphones are translating that number to emergency services,” APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad explained in an email.
