Anchorage community pays tribute to fallen officers

A ceremony in Anchorage began Alaska’s police memorial week Friday.
This year, a sixty-eighth name was added to the monument at the Alaska State Crime Lab honoring fallen officers, Fairbanks Police Sargeant Allen Brandt.
Brandt was responding to a call for shots fired on October 16, 2016, when an armed suspect shot him five times in the legs. His vest stopped a sixth bullet, but shrapnel from the gunshot was lodged in his eye. He later died on October 28, following complications during a s
