Alaska veterans headed to Washington DC thanks to Last Frontier Honor Flight
The annual Last Frontier Honor Flight took off from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Tuesday morning with 23 World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans aboard. For many of them, it will be their first time seeing the monuments dedicated to their service.
“People talked me into it,” joked Claude “Bud” File, who served in World War II.
He went through basic training at Fort Richardson and was stationed on Adak Island for one year, but never saw combat.
